It didn't take long for the Pittsburgh Steelers to be linked to another free agent wide receiver, as CBS Sports just included the Steel City brand of football in their list of potential fits for ex-Minnesota Vikings wideout Adam Thielen.
On Monday, CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin named the Steelers as one of four potential landing spots for Thielen, pointing to Pittsburgh's massive need for pass catchers.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement"A day after Aaron Rodgers publicly implied some Steelers receivers aren't fully committed to learning and/or executing their routes, perhaps the overachieving Thielen will draw an endorsement from A-Rod in Steel City," Benjamin wrote. "At one point the two looked like a logical match, back when Rodgers was eyeing new weapons for his time with the New York Jets. The Steelers never stopped looking for added pass catching help after acquiring DK Metcalf via trade, so it stands to reason they'd consider this option as well. Mike Tomlin needs all the positive influence he can get as he tries to salvage Pittsburgh's locker room and season."
In 12 seasons, Thielen has caught 693 passes for 8,380 yards and 64 touchdowns. But his 2025 season with the Vikings hasn't gone well for the 35-year-old receiver, catching just eight passes for 69 yards in eleven games — as well as being listed as a healthy scratch in Minnesota's Week 13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Thielen's shortcomings this season hardly fall on his own shoulders, as many of the Vikings wideouts have struggled under the poor quarterback play of J.J. McCarthy, with Pittsburgh potentially offering the veteran a last hoorah before he calls it quits on his incredible career.
