The Los Angeles Lakers will play the second game of a back-to-back set on Monday when they host the Phoenix Suns. The Suns were thought to be doomed to a painful rebuilding period after trading away future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant over the summer, but they have gotten out to a 12-9 record and have been surprisingly competitive.

LeBron James sat out Sunday's win over the New Orleans Pelicans due to what was termed "left foot injury management," and guard Marcus Smart didn't play either due to back spasms. While Smart will once again be out of action, it appears James will be available to play.

Coach JJ Redick said that Smart is day-to-day and may not be out for that much longer.

After Monday's game, the Lakers will hit the road for three straight games against the Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers starting on Thursday. They will then return home to host the San Antonio Spurs in the quarterfinal round of the Emirates NBA Cup next Wednesday, Dec. 10.
