After strictly playing special teams for his first three weeks with the Los Angeles Rams, Roger McCreary finally made his debut on defense Sunday night in the first quarter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Unfortunately, his time on the field didn’t last very long. He suffered a hip injury on the first drive and was never able to return, playing just one snap before exiting. He pressured Baker Mayfield into an incompletion on that play, too.

Sean McVay told reporters on Monday that McCreary likely could’ve gone back into the game but the team decided to play it safe. That’s understandable considering how lopsided the score was.

Josh Wallace played 89% of the defensive snaps in place of Quentin Lake on Sunday night, but it's unclear if he was only given such a big role because McCreary got injured. He was the starter so clearly the Rams prefer him to McCreary, but the plan might've been to give both players an opportunity to play.

Up next for Los Angeles is a road trip to Carolina on Sunday afternoon; McCreary's status will be monitored leading up to that game throughout the week of practice.
