Arteta stopped Trossard from leaving this summer

Despite rumors and interest from clubs like Bayern Munich, Fenerbahçe, and Besiktas, Leandro Trossard stayed at Arsenal this summer.

Coach Mikel Arteta revealed that he blocked the Belgian’s departure:

For me, it was out of the question for him to leave. No way. I know what kind of player he is, and with the other players around him, he can really make a difference for us.

Trossard started the season strongly and played a decisive role in the 4-1 win over Tottenham. Arteta praised his performance:

It was one of his best matches—aggressive both on and off the ball, highly effective. He could have scored another one or two goals and was involved in many positive actions. That’s exactly what we need.

The player himself also expressed his satisfaction:
