KNOXVILLE ― Diego Pavia got the job done in leading Vanderbilt football to a 45-24 win over Tennessee on Nov. 29 at Neyland Stadium.
The Commodores quarterback shined on both sides of the ball and accounted for two total touchdowns.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementPavia said before the season that Vanderbilt would "run Tennessee" and backed up his talk with production. It remains to be seen whether Pavia will be a finalist for the Heisman trophy − voting doesn't open until next week.

Pavia was 18-of-28 passing for 268 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He rushed 20 times for 165 yards and one touchdown.

Pavia's ability to escape the pocket was on display with one of his best rushing games of the season. He ran for one touchdown, a 24-yarder where Pavia found the hole in the line then ran untouched into the end zone.

Pavia had two interceptions and both were bad throws. The first came in the first quarter at the goal line and the second in the second quarter.
