‘The season is still so long’ – Gvardiol warns people not to write off Man City

Josko Gvardiol says he is confident that Manchester City can still fight for titles this season.

Defeat at Newcastle on Saturday was City’s fourth from 12 games in the Premier League, leaving them seven points adrift of league leaders Arsenal.

But the defender remains confident despite the number of games his side have already lost.

“I think we’ve been doing really good so far this season,” he said ahead of the Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen.

“We know it’s difficult to play away games and of course we prefer to play at home.

“Mentally, we are prepared for all the games. We want to perform and we want to be the best that we can.

“The season is still so long. I think we are going to recover, we are going to be there and from now on I think things are going to be much easier.

“Two, three months ago, we were in a much worse situation than now.

“There’s many games to play. I feel like we just need to go game by game, be here mentally, recover well, prepare well for the next game and then we will see at the end.”
